A STRUGGLE FOR SURVIVAL DEEP IN THE HEART OF AFRICA
From the explosive first pages, Lisa Harris weaves a tale of heart-stopping suspense and adventure with her second book in the Mission Hope Series. When fighting erupts between government forces and renegade Ghost Soldiers deep within the Republic of Dhambizao, thousands are forced to leave their homes. Dr. Paige Ryan, who works with Volunteers of Hope International, is sent to lead a team to set up a refugee transit site---where the immediate needs for shelter, water, sanitation, and food are critical. Nick Gilbert, a bush pilot for Compassion Air, joins the team to help fly supplies in and out of the area. With the refugee camp already experiencing overcrowding, raids, and uprisings, a group of American mountain climbers is attacked by the Ghost Soldiers. Paige's medical team responds immediately, rescuing survivors and taking them into the camp. When it's discovered that one of the trekkers is carrying an infectious disease, the harrowing conditions of the camp are forgotten. In desperate need of vaccines and the Ghost Soldiers blocking the only road out until their demands for amnesty are met, it won't be long before the disease is out of control ... and there is nowhere to run.

Though this book in a novel, set ina fictional country in Africa, it highlights the constant and often insurmountable problems that aid organizations encounter when trying to help the people of the Dark Continent. Rampant political corruption, repeatedly failing crop seasons, the lack of basic health care, and the intense frustration of people that leads them to try to solve problems with violence are all very real and persistent in many parts of Africa. While Dr. Paige Ryan is well trained, right and resourceful, she is also overwhelmed when all of the above factors create the perfect storm for her and other aid workers trying to manage a huge refugee camp in the middle of a war zone. This is a fast paced story, with several plot twists and turns and clashing value systems. Well written, but not well edited for Kindle.Product details

Blood Covenant Mission Hope Book 2 edition by Lisa Harris Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
What an exciting read!! This is such a book of drama done so tastefully__no sex, no profanity!! I had trouble putting it down because I just couldn't imagine how it would end!! Such a great read consisting of excitement plus so much more!!
I like the jungle part. The hiking. Lots of emotion and best of all changing lives for the better. I loved the gift they were given near the end. But the best gift for ALL was hope. The thing I disliked were the evil in the rebels.
Harris had me spellbound from the first page. A story of intrigue, corruption, betrayal, brutality, selflessness, courage, self centered vanity, abject poverty, terror, faith and utimately redemption against a backdrop of Africa were characters whom I will long remember.
As I began to read this book, I wasn't prepared to be pulled into the story. I couldn't put the book down. The story drew me into the book. It took awhile to develop and I understood the determination of the characters to not lose hope. God does so much for we don't understand but He is Lord of all.
I lived in the places described. The book transported me back to the smells, injustice, filth and anger surrounded by God's beautiful love and creation. The story is fictionalized, yet the events happen somewhere nearly every day. As aid workers, volunteers, and career personnel - including our military and embassy workers - bravely face these hardships, this story reminds me of the need to pray for these giving people and those they serve.
I began reading this book and quickly I realized that this novel was going to open my eyes to the refugee crises around the world. The author gave a "sterilized" account so we could read this. It gave me a lot to think about as I watched this suspenseful story unfold!
The descriptions of the refugee camp and surrounding areas seemed so real. The needs seemed so vast and desperate. And the sense of helplessness in the face if such adversity seemed so overwhelming. But, I didn't love the book. Even though all the story lines eventually wove together, there were way too many plot lines going on. For the first half of the book, the different points of view were being told in such different settings and with different people, that it was hard to follow the flow of what was happening. Eventually it all came together, but it took a while to get that point and was confusing at times during that process. I did find the setting and story to be unique and enjoyed seeing some of the growth that the characters showed by the end of the novel.
